Scientific Advisory Board
The following members are part of the Scientific Advisory Board of the MEDEIA Project: - University of Michigan - Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems / Manufacturing Information and Control (Prof. Dawn Tilbury): The Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (ERC/RMS) is bringing the RMS science to the factory floor with new methodologies and equipment to begin production faster and with higher reliability. RMS technologies give manufacturers exactly the production capabilities needed, exactly when needed to compete in the global marketplace. The ERC/RMS is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and approximately thirty industrial companies. Involved in the ERC/RMS are approximately 15 faculty, 10 staff and 40 students. In addition to research in RMS, the Center also engages in educational and outreach activities.
- Vienna University of Technology - Institute for Software Technology and Interactive Systems / Quality Software Engineering (Prof. Dr. Stefan Biffl): ISIS is part of the Faculty of Informatics at Vienna University of Technology and conducts research in and development of software and information systems. ISIS employs currently 4 full professors, 20 faculty members and about 50 research assistants. The areas of research include the domains of data engineering (data warehousing, data mining, nonstandard data modeling), information & knowledge engineering (web semantics, information visualization, plan management, e-learning, digital libraries, audio and text mining), software engineering (software quality management, verification and validation, security).
